Tsa Tsa from Tashilhunpo Monastery

【introduce】:

On the evening of January 28, 1989, the 10th Panchen Lama Choekyi Gyaltsen passed away. According to the usual practice, after the death of a famous living Buddha, the body is allowed to be mourned by all walks of life. After the memorial service is completed, the body is embalmed and stored in a spiritual pagoda. This is a unique burial system in Tibetan Buddhism called "pagoda burial".

From January 28 to May 26, 1989, the body of the 10th Panchen Lama was kept in Deqian Gesang Phodrang, the new palace of Tashilhunpo Monastery in Shigatse, where he passed away, and his face was covered with a piece of brocade.

The "Record of the Installation of the Tenth Panchen Lama's Dharma Body" records that the Panchen Lama's face was first rested, painted, and gilded, and then the silk and satin covering the face could be removed, and the body was dehydrated and antisepticized at the same time. For each layer of satin, apply a layer of medicine. In the first two months, the above-mentioned formula should be applied to the body once a day to prevent corrosion. Change the silk that tightly wraps the body once a day to dehydrate it. In the next two months, apply the medicine and change the silk every two days.

The Tibet Autonomous Region Government provided five kilograms of top-quality saffron and more than 500 kilograms of 108 kinds of precious medicines including pakuma powder, white sandalwood powder, high-grade borneol and "six kinds of good medicine powder". In this way, the silk and satin should be replaced regularly within four months so that all the water in the body can be absorbed without damage to the body.

The tsa made by mixing the dehydrated body fluids of masters with Tibetan medicine and so on is called "bu tsa". "Bu" means legal body. A small amount of the Dharmakaya Bu Tsa of the 10th Panchen Lama leaked out of the temple. Tibetans believe that the Dharmakaya Bu Tsa has the magical effect of destroying evil spirits and curing all kinds of diseases. In matters of life and death, taking the cloth Tsa can save lives. It is usually hidden in Gawu. It is rare. At first sight. Dongga Lobsang Trilie the Great Living Buddha believes that hanging the master's cloth on the chest and rubbing it without leaving the square inch means that the mind is in harmony with the master.

The dehydrated master's bodily fluids are made into a limited number of cloths. Only the master's relatives, important officials of the imperial court, and prominent Tibetan families can invite them. They are only given to the most distinguished guests who pay homage to the master's body, and will not be given lightly. , so cloth wipes are extremely rare and hard to find. It has very precious religious and cultural relic value.
